Watchlist
This page contains shares that I’m interested in, and gives me an opportunity to collate links to relevant sources of information.
It contains a selection of Oil shares and Small cap shares (as there are bargains in small cap atm)
Frontera - FRR
Health warning: from reading posts by Emptyend, djpreston I get the impression this is speculative and as such intend to only invest a small mount here. Assume I’m going to lose any money invested here.
Fool post laying out base case for investment. Not sure on validity of poster.
JohnnyT lays out case for investing and case for shorting. Maybe an entry point if case2 happens?
What are the chances.…
Falkland Oil and Gas - FOGL
Again speculative, assume I’m going to lose any money invested here.
Hal’s Fool share comp writeup
Interesting article here, points out ‘Global Petroleum has recently traded at less than the value of its FOGL investment and, as it also trades on the Australian Stock Exchange, can be put in an ISA.‘
Indago Petroleum - IPL
This looks promising with respected Fools GHH, WShak backing in this excellent thread
James Latham (LTHM)
This post by Carmensfella made me think about small capsas a HYP alternative, he discusses Lathams as an example.
Post By AliceInWonder about Lathams.
Eleco (ELCO)
Recently recommended by Carmensfella, another GARP type share discussed here maybe related to housebuilders though so be carefull. AiW discusses here.
Norman Hay (HNN)
Recently recommended by Carmensfella, another GARP type share discussed here
Chieftain (CFT)
This thread about Chieftain lays out its case, read it all.
Carmensfella issues rebuttal of SirLurkalot calling Chieftain a ‘tired metalbasher’ and his share comp entry here. Aiw writeup followinf 07-08 annual accounts.AnotherAiW post here. Another post speculating on BAE contract work.
Touchstone (TSE)
IT company on low rating, some snippets here and here and an AiW post
Thread about interims with both +ve’s and -ve’s. Aiw speculates on takeover possibilities. as does Carmensfella
Gladstone (GLD)
GLD Trading below NAV, but was thinking TSE would be my small cap software company. This thread has some -ve’s
AliceInWonder1 notes from the AGM and some more here.
Clarkson (CKN)
One of three shares posted by vi123, doesn’t have net cash though like the shipping aspect.
Lincat Group (LCT)
Read AiW post here, v low PE and High Yield worth investigating. Like the boring industry too (a la Peter Lynch). Note last years yield maybe skewed by a special divi?
FW Thorpe (TFW)
Another of the popular small cap shares advocated by Carmensfella. Write up here and marben100’s excellent post here
AGM thread with links to other posts here. AliceinWonder1’s writeup here describes the company background
Carmensfella issues rebuttal of SirLurkalot calling Chieftain a tired metalbasher
Note: looking at PE yield from time of last recession then this may have further to fall?? Manufacturing, not sure I like the sector.
Dawnay Day Carpathian (DDC)
Eastern Europe property, prob not for me but this is an excellent summary and discussion. Excellent writeup here. Think basic idea is that easter european inflation is v high so rents etc will increase.
Global oceanic Carriers (GOC)
Excellent writeup about the dry shipping company also CQ entry has lots of good discussion.
China Shoto (CHNS)
Heard this company mentioned so thought i’d post this link discussing its Sept 07 interims and a full write up here. and another fool poster laying out the bullish case.
RCG Holdings (RCG)
Mentioned by several posters Read AiW post here and another recommendation here . Also a CQ writeup in early 07 and a feb 08 results update with some -ve’s thrown in by PapalPower. Nice posts17493 17484 17330 at ADVFN. Excellent post by AiW about -ves of investing in chinese companies, specifically mentions RCG.
Andrew Sykes (ASY)
Possibly a v small holding. No Divi. PP seems to like it here and he enthuses about it here (also excellent comment about market). Huge spread puts me off.
This post points out that divi is being reinstated but is expecting poor results due to recent weather.
Wolfson (WLF)
Post on ADVFN quoting from the FT, maybe wait a while before investing as would deffo be affected by recession.
Asian Citrus (ACHL)
Some posts of interest here, here and here.
Vislink (VLK)
Carmensfella mentioned here alongside gladstone, Aiw writeup here . Has a bit of divy. Original SLINKY entry here (note it dopped a lot after that) and subsequent MrContrarian post here.
Starvest (SVE)
I spotted this on a value trawl. PE of 2 but really should be values off of assets, essentially its a fund of microcap resource firms. Found a few fool posts here, here and gets amention from Hal here. ADVFN thread.
Pennant International(PEN)
Panmure Gordon(PMR)
MTI Wireless Edge(MWE)
These companies are worth keeping an eye on as have good yield, mentioned byTheCornishman here. Also HDT is worth keeping an eye on but would want sub 5 PE. Ignore other companies on list.
Collins Stewart(CLST)
Not an AIM company but FTSE250. Stockbroker with good yield and low PE. Earnings likely to suffer. Mentioned on this thread by IronPyrites.
Quadnetics(QDG)
Mentioned by PP in this thread. Full review by AiW, same sector as INd but has divi so could invest. Low PE net cash etc. Carmensfella write about it here.
Maxima(MXM)
This company is similar to TSE but appears to have better ratios though does have some debt. Maybe an idea to buy an half holding of each. A full writeup can be found here (and an older ones here(AiW) and here) along with 2008 interim one here. Also should read the research note on DoY’s website.
Northern Recruitment(NRG)
SThree(STHR)
NRG popped up on a value trawl, heard mentioned in the fool a few time. Good ratios but not a lot of divy cover plus wouldnt do well in a recession so hold off and dont buy too early. Another recruiter (with an IT bent), SThree, was mentioned by IronPyrites in this post
MS International (MSI)
Growth company recommended by Carmensfella in this post, also reviewed by AiW here. Lowish PE and excellent EPS growth numbers. Pays only small divi but probably worth including in portfolio. July 08 Results from Carmensfella.
Holders Technology (HDT)
Real PYAD mentioned by the cornishman and also here
