Deciding to start managing my own portfolio and not give the fund managers 1.5% a year to under perform, I thought that documenting my progress and thoughts on a web site would be a good way to analyse achievements.

Hopefully this web site will be of great help to other individuals who would also like to take control of their own finances.  My overall goal is to achieve an annualised growth rate of at least 8%

Many people trade stocks regularly, making and (more likely) losing money while jumping into the latest investment fashion. I feel that with only a modest target to meet, I will be able to resist following the crowd and will be able to maintain my long term buy and hold ideal that has worked so well for Warren Buffett and other popular investors.
